He was the Domesday tenant of Brimpsfield, Stoke, Rockhampton, Elston, Orcheston, etc. In 1084.

Osborn Gyffarde, second son of Osborn de Bolbec, aided William the Conqueror in his conquest of England. He was given the fertile county of Gloucester as a reward for this service. Here he held the extensive mannors of Brimesfield, Rochemtune, Alderberie and Stoche. He settled at the manor of Brimesfield, and built a great castle during the reign of King Stephen. This Castle remained the residence of his descendants until it was destroyed in the Baronial War in 1322. this Osborne died about the year 1086, and had issue Hellias Giffarde.

Osberne, along with his brother Walter, assumed the name Gyffard and fought with William the Conqueror in his invasion of England for which he was compensated with grants of lands. He build a great castle during the time of King Stepeh, which was continually resided in untilit was destroyed by the army of Edward II in 1322. His child was Hellas.
