Gervase Paganel succeeded his father, Ralph in about 1160. He married Isabel, Countes of Northampton, widow of Simon St. Liz, Earl of Northamptom and daughter of Robert de Beaumont, Earl of leicester. They had only one child, Robert, who died before his father. With no child as heir, his only sibling, Hawyse, became his heir. She married John de Somery, and was mother of Ralph de Somery who inherited the large possession of his uncle, Gervase, and was ancestor of the subsequent Barons of Dudley.
