Information about this person:
• Background Information. 946 Thurstan Banastre is called the brother of Robert in a charter made about 1190-1199 of a gift to Cockersand. Of these two brothers, Robert can only be the Robert Banastre who was driven from Prestatyn in 1167, and had a grant of Walton-in-le-Dale from Henry de Lacy, circa 1169, and Thurstan was the father of Margaret, the wife of Richard, son of Roger of Woodplumpton and of Matilda, the wife of William de Hastings. Both brothers were dead before 1199. Before the accession of King John, Thurstan Banastre's two daughters engaged in litigation in the King's Court, respecting the division of their inheritance [Rotuli Curiæ Regusm vol.I, p. 359; Curia Regis Roll, No. II].
