• Background Information. 151 John Scot of Calverley, eldest son of Sir William, was aged 22 on the eve of the Apostles Peter and Paul, of 28 Jun 1261, so he was likely born in 1239. Among the documents in the Calverley Charter is one, dated 1265, settling land in Calverley on his sister Margery and her husband, William de Wath. It is expessed to be made in consideration of six marks given by William de Wath to William Scot, John's father. Another document is a release to John from his brother-in-law, Richard Ingram, of the land settled by William Scot.
Willam Scot was the brother of John and a son of Sir William. William was likely the eldest son, but he more than likely died without issue. ~The Calverley Charters, Presented to the British Museum, by Sir Walter Calverley Trevelyan, Baronet, Vol. I, Notes on the Pedigree
