Hesilia Crispin was the daughter of Gilbert Crispin I, baron of Tillieres. See M. Jackson Crispin and Leonce Macary, *Falaise Roll* (Baltimore: Genealogical 1994), p. 43.
• From Gen-Medieval Archives: William Malet's wife . 193 From: Alan B. Wilson<abwilson@uclink2.berkeley.edu > Subject: William Malet's wife Date: 1 Feb 1998 05:04:31 GMT
Cyril Hart in "William Malet and his family", Anglo-Norman Studies, xix, 1996, pp. 123-165, says William Malet's wife is Esilia, daughter of Gilbert Crispin I of Tillieres. This agrees with the information in M. Jackson Crispin and Leonce Macary, Falaise Roll, Table XIII and in several places in the text (e.g., pp. 28, 43, 128, 158).
• Background Information. 956 Hesilia, the widow of William Malet, appears to have been amply dowered. She is recorded in Domesday many times as holding property under the designation as "Mother of Robert Malet." Her son Robert made a charter to the Abbey at eye in which he stated that William Malet was his father and Hesilia his mother. Hesilia was the sister of the two Crispins who who fought at the Battle of Hastings.
