• Background Information. 710 Sir John Bromley, Knight, was married to Joane, daughter of William Hextol. He was second son of William de Bromely, Lord of Bodington, aged 13, Henry V and Landy Marjery, daughter of Randle Mainwaryng of Baddily, and grandson of Sir John Bromley, Knight, Lord of Bodington, aged 28, 5 Henry V, who died of Wounds in France 4 Sep Henry IV.

• Background Information. 942 Sir John Bromley was the only surviving son of William Bromley and Margaret Mainwaring. He was a minor at the time of his father's death in 1431. John was knighted on 23 Sep 1459 by Lord Audley on the eve of the loss for Lancaster of the Battle of Blore Heath on land that lay adjacent to the Bromleys' ancestral manor of Ashley. Sir John, unlike many of the Knights of Lancaster, survived the battle of Blore Heath.
Sir John Bromley married Joanna Hexstall, daughter and heiress of William Hexstall of Hesxtall, Warwickshire. They had three daughters:
Isabella, who died before 1510, and was married to William Needham. Margaret, who died in 1469, and was married to William Stanley of Hotton. There was only one issue from this marriage, Margaret, who married Peter Gerard, son and heir of Sir Thomas Gerard, from which Gerrard's Bromley, in Staffordshire is derived. Margery, married to John Harpur of Rushall, Staffordshire.
Sir John Bromley is believed to have had a relationship with martha Woodville, one of the many daughters of Richard woodville and Jacquetta the Duchess of Bedford. They had a son named Thomas.
