Juan de los Reyes Mirabal

  • Born: Abt 1770, Río Abajo, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España
  • Marriage: María Concepción García on 2 May 1790 in San Agustín de la Ysleta, Ysleta, Nueva Méjico, Nueva España 34

bullet  General Notes:

I honestly have no idea how Juan de los Reyes Mirabal fits into the Río Abajo Mirabal family. His mariage record says he is the natural son of Manuela Baca. There are many possible ways that he could have come about having the name Mirabal. He could be the "natural" son of either Bernardo, Carlos of even Fray Juan José Pérez de Mirabal. There were more than a few priests who were progenitors of families in New Mexico (Sánchez de Iñigo, Miguel Muñiz de Luna, Cayetano Otero).

Juan could have been the child of a servant of Bernardo and he was the padrino. Who knows, but he lived between André Mirabal, called natural son of Carlos José Mirabal in his Diligencia Matrimonial, and Juana Mirabal, who was called the daughter of Bernardo Mirabal in her Diligencia Matrimonial dated 17 Nov 1779, so he must fit into this family. The one thing that might explain the Mirabals of Tomé is the ethnic tags given with each individual. Mirabal folks at this time either were españoles or coyotes. The españoles all were legitimate and the coyotes seem originate as natural child.
