• Background Information. 634 Cynan ab Iago was one of the possible kings of north Wales until he was forced to flee Gwynedd. He took reuge in Dulin with the family of King Sitriuc Silkenbeard. Cynan married Sitriuc's granddaughter, Ragnhild, and their son was named Gruffudd. Gruffudd was the founder of a dynasty that rules as princes of Gwynedd until the conquest of Wales.
