John Cooley was the son of Mathew and Jemina Rogers Cooley. He was born on 24 May 1744 in Lyme, Connecticut, and died there on 4 Jul 1774. He married Lydia Anderson on 8 Feb 1768 in Lyme. Lydia was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Minor Anderson. Elizabeth was born on 13 Sep 1748. She married a second time on 15 Jan 1784 to Elixah Robbins.
