Juan Bautisata de Anaza was the son of Juan Bautista de Anaza and María Rosa Becerra Nieto of Fronteras, Nueva Navarra, Nueva España. His paternal grandparents were Antonio de Anaza, a pharmacist, and Lucía de Sassoeta of Hernani, Guipuzcoa, España. His maternal grandparents were Antonio Becerra Nieto and Gregoria Gómez de Silva of Janos, Nueva España. His father, of the same name, was killed by Apaches 9 May 1740, when Juan Bautista was only three years of age.

María married Juan Bautista de Anza, son of Antonio de Anza and Lucía de Sassoeta. (Juan Bautista de Anza was born on 29 Jun 1693 in Hernani, Guipuzcoa, España ¹⁵⁸⁷ and died on 9 May 1740 in Nueva Navarra, Nueva España ¹⁵⁸⁷.)
