• Background Information. 1209 " Anastacius, the sonne of Benedict Fitz Jordan, granted the manor of Woodford of unto John Fitz Robert, which conveyed the same unto Geoffry de Albamara, and gave it in marriage unto Sir Hugh de Bolhay, with Muriell his daughter, and Sir Reginald de Albamara, sonne of Galride, granted the demaisnes of the said mannor of Woodford unto Sir Hamelyn de Bolhay, his nephew, which died anno 50 Kinge Henry 3, & it descended unto James de Bolhay his son, who had issue Amicia, wief of John Cobham, a younger sonne of Cobham, of Kent."

• Background Information. 1354 "Woodford is between Plym and a rill that comes from Cornwood, a tything, that in king Henry the second's reign was granted to Robert Beauchamp, by Matild, his sister, and William Fitz Richard, her son, which afterwards became the lands of Thomas Gavegan, and descended to Tostard and Fitz Jordan, by his co-heirs. From Fitz Jordan it came unto Galfrid de Albamara, about the reign of king Edward the first, and he gave the manor in marriage with Marian, his daughter, unto sir Hugh de Bolhay, whose son, Sir Reginald de Albamara, granted the demsne of the manor unto Hamlyn Bolhay, his nephew."
