• Background Information. 821 Richard Carew, Knight of Beddington, Bandon and Norbury Surrey, Maytham, Kent, etc., Sheriff of Surrey and Sussex, 1501/2, Lietenant of Calais, son and heir, born about 1470 (age 23 in 1498). Richard Carew married Malyn Oxenbridge, daughter of Robert Oxenbridge, Knight, of Ford Place (in Brede), Sussex, by his wife, Anne Lyvedlodge.

• Web Reference: Persons Involved in the Sale of Knelle Manor: Oxenbrigge. Sir Robert Oxenbridge's will dates from 16 April 1483, his testament from 18 Oct. 1482. He died on 9 March 1487, will proved at Lambeth 11 Dec.1488 (PROB 11/8). His wife Ann died 27 Feb. 1493-4. There is a brass with her figure in Brede church where her arms are shown: On a saltier five fleur-de-lis, the centre in pale, the others bendways. Adam Levelode, her father, was a London merchant and had a brother Robert. Surviving her husband, she had as her dower the manor of Ford and Robert's lands in Brede and Udimore for life.
Anne married Sir Robert Oxenbridge Knight, son of Robert Oxenbridge and Alice 1292.,1293 (Sir Robert Oxenbridge Knight was born about 1414, died on 9 Mar 1487 in Brede, East Sussex, England 1292,1293 and was buried in 1487 in Lady Chapel of St. George, Brede, East Sussex, England 1293.)
