Henry Fitz Siward de Lathom
Noted events in his life were:
• Background Information. 824 Henry was the father of the first known male ancestor of the House of Lathom, Robert de Lathom. He is mentioned in the Carta Roberti de Lathom de dimidia carucata terre in Childewall, as Robertus filius Henrici, or Robert son of Henry. Henry had two sons, Robert and Richard who was the witness to Carta Johannis Wallensis facta nobis de Childewall in which his brother, Roberto de Lathom, is named. Richard also was the ancestor of the torbocks of Torbock.
~The Courcher Book, Or Chartulary, of Whalley Abbey, Vol. II, p. 551
• Background Information. 863 Henry-Fitz-Siward was also named in the Inquisition of 1212, and was a grantee of Flixton from Albert de Gredlè, the elder, who was Lord of Manchester Fee. It is clear that Robert Fitz Henry succeeded to flixton, for he gave that Church to Burscough; and the Inquisition cited states the Flixton property to have passed hereditarily to its time, which was subsequent to the death of this Founder. It also, fixes the Founder's son, Richard Fitz Robert, as heir of Siward Fitz Dunning, and closes up the entire descent of blood and inheritance from Dunning to Henry's grandson, Richard.
