• Background Information. 202 Sir Robert de Standish, Knight, son of John Standish , Squire of Standish, was the seventh son. He married sometime before 1387/88, Isolda de Lea, the widow of Sir William de Lea, Knight.
Sir Robert achieved distinction, was knighted and was chosen Sheriff of the County of Lancaster. He and his wife, Isolda, are mentioned in deeds relation to Croston, 1387/88, when Sir Robert's father John de Standish had obtained a lease of land in Croston. Soon after this date another John de Standish appears, perhaps the son of Sir Robert, holding lands in Croston, Mawdesley, Wrightington and other places. This John de Standish married Alice de Bretherton of Bretherton. His son and heir, Christopher de Standish married Margaret Uton, daughter of Robert Uton. Lettice Standish, daughter and heiress of Christopher and Margaret, married Edward Rishton.
Another child of Sir Robert and Isolda de Standish was Elizabeth de Standish. She first married John de Wrottesley and second, Sir William le Boteler of Bewsey, K.B., who died at Harfleur on 26 Sep 1415. He was Baron of Warrington, Knight of Bath in 1399, a member of Parliament and the son of Sir John Boteler of Bewsey in Warrington and Alice de Plumpton.
