• Dates & Events. 81 Peter, with wife Pentronill, came into possession of Guildford Manor, far to the southeast of Surrey, and being called as a member of Parliament in 1384.
• Family Background. 96 Pete Attewode was member of Parliament for Surrey in 1384. He was the direct ancestor of the Attwoods who came to the to the early British Colonies in New England. He had a son, John, who was Knight of the Shire in 1459. This John Attwood had a son also named John, who in turn had a son named John Hewson Atwood.

• Background Information. 1290 Cecilia wife of Sir Richard Turberville, granted her half of the estate at farm to Peter atte Wode, his wife Laurencia and their son Peter, in survivorship, and Peter atte Wode accounted for the manor of Chipstead in 1364 [Mins. Accts. bdle. 1092, no. 3]. Some years later, in 1381-2, Peter and his son both being dead [Close, 5 Ric. II, m. 24 d].
