According to Dursley and it's neighborhood [p. 6], by John Henry Blunt, part of the agreement brokered by Prince Henry with Robert Fitz Harding and Roger de Berkeley was that Robert Fitz Harding needed to give his son-in-law Dursley Castle, and he was to built a new castle at Berkley for the Fitz Hardings.
• Background Information: 1585 Isabella, daughter of Roger de Berkeley, of Dursley, married Thomas de Rochford, Vice Sheriff of the County of Gloucester from 5th to 6th John, for William Earl Marshal. Isabella's mother was Elena Fitz Harding. Thomas de Rochford died in 1205, leaving an infant heiress, Alice de Rochford.
