He was born 5 Mar 1133 at Le Mans, Anjou, and became the Count of Touraine and Maine in 1151. He succeeded his father as the Duke of Normany and the count of Anjou on 7 Sep 1151. He became the Duke of Aquitaine in the right of his wife, Eleanor, 18 May 1152. He succeeded his cousin, Stephen, as King of England on 19 Dec 1154.
