• Background Information. 814 Ralph de Gorges was the governor of Shireburne and Exeter castes, as well as sheriff of the county of Devon, during the reign of Henry III. He had a writ of summons to parliament called by the King to meet in London in 45 Henry III, after which time he died, 56 henry III. He married Elena, daughter of John de Morville, and with his marriage, he acquired the manor of Wraxhall.

• Background Information. 535 Ralph de Gorges, who flourished in the time of Henry III, was governor of the castles of Sherburne and Exeter. He had a military summons to the war in Wales in the 54th of the same king's reighn. He attended Prince Edward to the Holy Land, and died two years later.
