• Background Information: 509 Pedro Rael, a soldier in the Alburquerque squad, was the son of Alonso Rael de Aguilar II [Spanish Archives of NM, roll 8, TW #031, f. 118] and Micaela López [Spanish Archives of NM, roll 7, TW #393, f. 201] as well as the grandson of Alfonso Rael de Aguilar who served as a secretary government and war, sargento mayor and alcalde of Santa Fé. Pedro died on 8 Aug 1771 when he was killed by Comances at Sabinal. [Deaths 1726-1776, MN FHL #16783]
In a case dealing with a dispute over the will of Alonso Rael de Aguillar II, Pedro Marcial Rael testified that he was the natural son of Alonso Rael de Aguilar II. Julián Rael referred to Pedro Marcial as a "natural son" of Alonso. Pedro Marcial Rael declared that he ws forty-two years old and a soldier of the Santa Fé Presidio.
