25 Jan 1781 - Belén, Father Bernal baptized María Bárbara Petra, born on the 18 Jan 1781, the legitimate daughter of Manuel de Luna and María Lucía García, citizens of Los Garcías. Her godparents were Francisco Luna and his mother, María Bárbara Yturrieta of the plaza of Los Bacas in the Belén jurisdiction.

María married José María Chávez, son of Pablo Durán y Chávez and Manuela Durán de Armijo, on 4 Aug 1817 in Tomé, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.⁴⁶ (José María Chávez was born about 1795 in Atrisco, Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.)

José María Chaves and María Bárbara Luna, Alburquerque and Belén, 5 Feb - 17 May 1817. AHAD-368, f. 474-79.

José María Chaves, 22, español, was the legitimate son of Pablo Chaves and the late Manuela Annijo, parishioners of the parish of Alburquerque. María Bárbara Luna, 17, española, was the legitimate daughter of Manuel Luna and María Lucía García, parishioners of the mission of Belén. The couple was related in the third degree of consanguinity.

Father Guerra questioned José María who stated that he was related to most of the people of his station the area and was a life-long resident of Alburquerque.

Witnessess: Francisco Durán, 55, citizen of Alburquerque.
José Apodaca, 57, citizen of Alburquerque.

The investigation continued at Belén before Pather Rubí de Celis. María Bárbara Luna stated that she had her parents' pennission to wed.

Witnesses:
José Silva, 60. citizen of Belén.
José Torres, 56, citizen of Belén.

Father forwarded the proceedings to Durango on 8 February 1817. On 17 May, Bishop Castañiza granted a dispensation subject to a penance in alms to assist with the need of their parish church. They were to kneel and pray the rosary on separate three days. The banns were to be proclaimed. Assuming no new impediment arose, Father Rubí de Celis was
to marry the couple and to grant them the nuptiatial blessing.
