Rodrigo Vélaz was the son of Vela Ovéquiz and his wife Aldonza Muñoz. Rodrigo appears in documents from May 1112 until his death. He married Urraca Álvarez, daughter of Álvar Fáñez and his wife Mayor Pérez.
