Charles Cawley's Medieval Lands, Gutierre Rodríguez de Castro was the son Rodrigo Fernández de Castro and his wife Eilo Álvarez. "Rodrigo Jiménez de Rada records that "Guterrio Fernandi de Castro...fratrem...Rodericum Fernandi qui fuit Calvus agnominatus" had four sons "Fernandum Roderici et Alvarum Roderici et Petrum Roderici et Guterrium Roderici" [Menéndez Pidal (1919), Tome I, 280, p. 379, and RAH, Colección Salazar y Castro, M-6, fo 153 (no. 46481)]." Gutierre married Elvira Osorio, daughter of Osorio Martínez and his wife Teresa Fernández. "The Nobiliario of Pedro Conde de Barcelos records that "Gutierre Rodriguez de Castro el Descalabrado" married "Elvira Osorez" [Pedro Barcelos, Tit. XI, Castro, 7 p. 87]."
