• Background Information. 247 Francisco's sister, María Mascareñas was placed in the home of Juan de Archibeque after her mother's death. María had a natural son fahtered by Juan de Archibeque who was named Juan. Juan de Mascareñas, alia Archibque, was mentioned as a minor in several documents in the Spanish Archives. María Mascareñas died in July 1726, and Juan was placed in the hom of his aunt, María Roybal, widow Miguel de Archibeque, & her husband don José de Reaño.
