• Background Information. 713 Hugh Venables grants to Hugh de Picmere and his heirs, the whole moiety of the villagge of Picmere for the same service contained in the deed of William Venables, his father, the donor of the same lands. Afterwards, William son of Guy Winsham, grants to Henry, son of Hugh de Picmere, all this rent in the township of Picmere. And Pagan, son of Raufe de Wastneys, lord of Winsham, releaseth to the said Henry all his rights in 3s 1d ob. rent, which he recieved of the said Henry. Hugh Picmere, son of Henry, was seised of this moeity ; whose son Hugh had three daughters, Isable, Alice and Margaret, 1343. [Lib. B., p.52, no.6] In 1356, he settles his mannor of Picmere, for want of heirs-males of his body, on Hugh Bruyn of Stapleford, and Margaret his daughter of the said Hugh Picmere. [Lib.
