Juan López Mederos, a captain, resided with his wife at Isleta in 1626. He appears to be the Oñate soldier of 1600, Juan López Medel, thirty-six years old, tall and black-bearded, the son of Pedro López Medel and a native of the Isle of La Palma. He brought along three female Indian servants, two of them single with a daughter each, and the third with her husband.
