• Family Connection. 1511 Diego de la Mancha was in Nueva España by 1561. Diego made arrangements, which were finalized in early 1563, for his wife, María Hernádez Cara Osorgan (or Caraosorgano) and their two daughters, María and Francisca, to also make the journey to Nueva España from Spain. On the passanger list, María is listed as a native of the Villa de Cortegana and the daughter of Alonso Hernádez & Francisca Hernádez. [43] The reason given for her travels was "to live in a state of marriage with Diego de la Mancha, her husband." Along with María & her two daughters were her brother-in-law, Hernando de la Mancha who was identified as a native of the Villa de Cortegana and the son of Hernando de la Mancha & Violante de Terrazas.
