Maria married Juan José Chávez, son of Juan Domingo Durán y Chávez and Augustina Lucia Padilla, on 23 Jun 1789.⁴³⁸ (Juan José Chávez was born in 1760 in Belén, Nuevo Méico, Nueva España ¹¹⁹⁸.)

Juan José Chaves, 27, widowed by his first wife, María Josefa Baca, was the legitimate son of Domingo Chaves and the late Agustina Padilla. María Josefa Trujillo, 24, española, was the legitimate daughter of Santiago Trujillo and Victoria Chaves, citizens of Isleta and Belen. The couple was related in the fourth degree of consanguinity.

In Belen, Fray Bernal took statements in lieu of baptismal enries, which he could not locate.
Juan Cristóbal Sánchez and Joaquín Torres stated tha they were present when Fray Iniesta baptized María Josefa Trujillo, and the godparents were Juan Felipe Baca and his wife, María Isabel Baca, both deceased. The baptism took place 1 Nov 1769 in Belen.

The declarations were forwarded to Durango. On 20 Mar 1794 Bishop Tristán granted a dispensation with penance of donating of 9 pesos 3 reals to be applied to the works of the poor churches in the bishopric.
