Manuel Miera y Pacheco, "soldado distinguido" of Santa Fe, widower of Barbara Torres, and son of Don Bernardo Miera y Pacheco and Doña María Estefania Domínguez de Mendoza, married María Josefa Quintana, daughter of Juan Quintana and Paula Sánchez, at Santa Cruz, 24 May 1781. He had been born at Guadalupe del Paso, and gave his age as thirty-six when he enlisted in 1779. Manuel and his first wife had been wedding sponsors at Laguna in 1774.

Two children by his second wife were: Joaquin and Ignacia. The boy married Cayetana Montoya in 1824, and the girl married Ramón Trujillo in 1818.
