"Roger sonne and heire of Nicholaus, by the name of Rogerus filius Nicholaij, filij Robti, Filij Hardingi, Payd five hundred markers pro habendis terris patris sui, to enter upon the lands that were his Fathers | And this was for the releefe after his fathers death, And in the viij^th year of King Richard the first, pay'd threefcore markers for the Kings license to marry Hawisia mother of Ralph de Somery then a widowe and endowed of lands holden of the Kinge in Capite. The said Roger dyed in the fiftheenth of King Henry the thrid Anno. 1230 leaving issue Nicholas."
