"Wivian de Staundon,¹ 2 fees, in Staundon, Eston, Sardon."

¹ Standon and Weston - Adam de Standon died 1194-1199. His so Robert was under age in 1199 and dead in 1208, when both his widow and heir were in custody to one Hugh Lubel. The next member of the family to appear is Vivian de Standon, who as Lord of Standon occurs 1232-1249, and was dead in 1250. In 1249/50 Vivian de Standon was succeed by Robert de Standon, a minor in 1250, his son or nephew.

In 1241, the sheriff was directed to give Vivian de Standon seisin of three virgates in Fenton-Vivian in the right of Philippa de Fenton, on his paying relief-Vivian being heir to Philippa de Fenton, who held this land in chief. Now in 1212 and 1237. the Testa de Nevill gives William de Erdinton holding Fenton in the right of Philippa his wife, "whom he had of the gift of King John." Philippa was probably first married to Robert de Standon (died 1208-1208), mother of Vivian de Standon, and secondly married to William de Erdinton.

Likely, the father of Philippa was Vivian, Parson of Stoke from 1166-1222, the Chaplain of King John. For in the Stone Cartulary are three grands of Ranulf de Bevill of Lonton, which date about 1212, 1216, and 1218 or 1225-8. Vivian de Fenton is the first witness in 1212, Vivian de Toka (?Stoke) is the first witness in 1216, and William de Erdinton is a witness to the last. In 1225-35, William de Erdinton, and 1249, Vivian de Standon are the pricipal witnesses of the further Bevil grants.
