• Background Information: Chaworth Family From Nottingham History Online. Of the family of Chaworth who settled in Nottinghamshire, Robert, given in Glover's pedigree as a brother (son?) of the original Patricius, made, like many of his descendants, an advantageous marriage, with the daughter of William de Walchiville, lord of Marnham, a village on the Trent. Here, formerly, a ferry crossed the river, only recently discontinued, of which Thoroton says:\emdash
"William son of Robert de Kawces (or Chaworth) for his soul's health and the soul of Agnes his wife, gave to God, St. Mary, and St. Cuthbert of Radeford, and the brethren and their servants, and their carriages, free passage in his ferry-boat of Marnham, without custom or demand .... which the Prior of Wirkesop claimed in Eyre 3rd Edward III. and had accordingly."
Robert married Agnes de Walchiville, daughter of William de Walchiville and Unknown. (Agnes de Walchiville was born about 1145 in Marnham, East Retford, Nottinghamshire, England.)
