Sir Ricahrd Tempest, of Stainforth, married Mabel, daughter of Walter Stickland, of Sizergh, as his second wife. Sir Richard Tempest of Stainforth was the son of Sir Robert Tempest (son of Sir Richard Tempest, of Bracewell, and Margaret, sister and co-heriess of Robert Stainforth), by Alice, daughter of John Lacy. Sir Richard was born about 1410, knighted by 1432, and dead before May, 1488.

Sir Richard Tempest founded a chantry at Giggleswick Church. With his second wife, Mabel Strickland, they had only one daughter, who was the first wife of Thomas, Lord Darcy.

Sir Robert Tempest married Alice daughter of John Lacy [Testa: Ebor: Vol. 3, p.319]. She was probably a descendent of John Lacy of Gaytforth who held land there 1316 [Surtees Soc. vol. 49, p.345 etc.] and sister of Robert Lacy of Gaytforth who made his will 12 February 1426/7 [Testa: Ebor: vol. 2, p.1). She was a widow by 30 January 1447/8 when in a feoffment to trustees from Henry Giles and Henry Lever, a rent out of Little Lever manor is named which they hold for their lives of the gift of "Dno Alicae, quondam uxoris Roberti Tempest militis, viduae" [Lever charters No. 177 Add: MSS 32103]. She wed 2dly, Thomas Assheton. The 29 May 1465 as Alice Assheton, Late wife of Sir Robert Tempest knt.


Alice married Sir Robert Tempest Kinght, son of Sir Richard Tempest Knight and Margaret Stainford 1226.,1227 (Sir Robert Tempest Kinght was born in 1356 in Bracewell, Yorkshire, England 445 and died before May 1488 in York, Yorkshire, England 1226.)
