Roger II Bertram was the son and heir of William II Bertram by Alice, sister of Robert d'Umfraville, who gave her Great Babington in free marriage. William II was the son and heir of Roger I by Ada, his wife. Roger I was the son and heir of William I, founder of Brinkburn priory by Hawise, daughter of Guy Balliol, who gave her Stainton in free marriage. Sir Philip d'Arcy, of Nocton, Coningsby, Dunston, Stallingborough, and Cawkwell, co. Lincoln, died shortly before 28 May 1264. Sir Philip married Isabel (living 15 Jun 1281) sister and coheir in her issue of Sir Roger Bertram of Mitford, and 2nd daughter of Sir Roger Bertram, of Mitford, Northumberland. Sir Phillip Darcy and his wife Isabel were the parents of Sir Norman Darcy, son and heir, and Sir Roger Darcy, the father of Sir John Darcy.
