Andrew of Astley, of Astley and Bentley, co. Warwick, son and heir of Sir Thomas of Astley, of the same, by his 1st wife, Joan, daughter of Ernald du Bois, of co. Leicester, succeeded his father (who was slain at Evensham) 4 Aug 1265, and was by the compostition called the dictum de Kenilworth, on payment of a fine, put into possession of his father's estates, which had been confiscated. He was in the Scottish wars and at the Battle of Falkirk.

Ernald de Bosco took the side of the barons against King John. On 15 Aug 1216, the sheriff of co. Northants was ordered "to take the lands of Ernald de Bosco because he was with the king's enemies." He made peace with the king and his lands were restored to him by a royal command on 4 Sep 1216. This Ernald was appointed, 16 Feb 1253, justice of all the king's forests "this side of Trent" with a salary of 100 marks yearly as long as he remained chidf justice. At the same time, he was appointed warden of the castle of Sauvey at a yearly rent to the exchequer of 5 marks. Ernald de Bosco died about 1254/5. He married Joan, daughter and co-heir Eva de Grey by her second husband Andrew Beauchamp, through whom Ernald inherited half a kinght's fee in Assington near Dudbury, co. Suffolk.
