Sir Philip Courtenay, 5th son of Hugh de Courtenay, K.G., Earl of Devon and his wife Margaret de Bohun. Sir Philip was Admiral of the Western Fleet, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Steward of the Duchy of Cornwall, member of the King's Council, and born about 1355, as he was 50 years of age in 1405. Sir Philip marred Anne Wake, daughter of Sir Thomas Wake, Knight, of Bissworth, Northamptonshire, by Alice, daughter of Sir John Pateshulle, Knight.
