Noted events in her life were:
• Background Information. 734 Mary de Clitheroe was first married to John, son and heir of Richard Tempest. John died before 16 Feb, 13 Richard II (1389/90). She remained a widow a few years and then, between 1392 and 1397, she married Nicholas Gascoigne. The le Gras estates in Studley had gone to the Tempest family, and in 1392, Mary released to Sir Richard Tempest any claim she may have had on the Tempest property through her husband. The Cambridgeshire estates of Paulina le Gras came to her, and ultimately, to Nicholas Gascoigne.
From the footnotes on pg. 164: "Mary who was wife of John Tempest, widow, now releases to Richard Tempest, knt, all right and claim etc which she had by inheritance, dower etc in lands, tenements, woods, meadows, pastures, mills, rents or services etc in Pathorn which he inherited on the death of Richard Tempest his father. "Mary Tempest daughter and heir of Hugh de Cliderowe demises to John Tichemers of Wympole a messuage and all the lands which Thomas Sparke and Isabella his wife formerly held of Ralph de Wynsore for the life of John Tichemeres paying yearly ten shillings and sixpence and two capons.
