Sir William de Huntingfield was the son and heir of Roger Fitz William also known as Roger de Huntingfield, by Alice de Senlis, daughter of Saher de Quincy, of Long Buckby and Daventry, Northamptonshire.

Roger son of William de Huntingfield, conformed a gift of Thomas de Multon to the Abbey of Spalding [Add. MS> 5844, pp.386/7], and in 1196, Hugh, Abbot of Sées, granted to the monks of Herst and Mendham the portion of Sées in the church of Mendham for a rent of 100s. with goodwill of Sir Roger de Huntingfield [Round, Cal. Docs. in France]. In 1199, Roger de Huntingfield gave 200 marks for 15 librates of land of the Honor of Lancaster in Norfolk and Suffolk [Cal. Fine Rolls]. He and his wife, Alice de Senlis, are stated to have died in 1204 [Har. MS. 506]
