Robert, son of Roger, added to the estates given to him by his father by purchasing the Manor of Rostherne, a moiety of the ville of Tatton, which in the next generation passed by a daughter in marriage to William de Mascy, a nephew of Hamon, Baron of Dunham-Massey. William was the first of the line of Mascy, Lords of Rostherne, which ended about the time Edward IV was king of England.
