Diego Barela Losada's wife was María Ana Fresqui. The marriages of his sons, Juan with María Maese in 1709, and José with María Gallegos in 1710, show that the parents were living at Guadalupe del Paso, hence this particular family did not come back home with the Reconquest.

María Gallegos was the daughter of José Gallegos and Catalina Hurtado. She married José Varela de Losada, son of Diego Varela de Losada and María Ana Fresqui, on 26 Apr 1711 at El Paso del Norte. José Varela de Losada was nineteen years old, a native of El Paso, and a soldier. María Gallegos was age fifteen, also a native of El Paso. The marriage witnesses were Juan García and Diego del Río.
