Reverand John James graduated from Cambridge, preached in Lincolnshire, England and lived in Boston for some years. He was the rector of Skirbeck, Lincoln, England from 1607 until his death in 1612. The following children were recorded in Boston, Lincoln, Massachusetts, British Colonies:
- Thomas, baptized 5 Oct 1595
- Mary, baptized 13 Oct 1597
- Daniel, baptized 1 Feb 1598/1599
- Samuel, baptized 21 feb 1600/1601
- Jermy, baptized 15 Aug 1605 (buried 3 Aug 1611)
Mary James married at Boston on 3 Aug 1620 to Oliver Mellowes, nephew of the Reverand Peter Bulkeley. Mary's brother, Thomas James, was educated at Emmanuel college, Cambridge, and came to New England in 1632, and returned to England about 1643 and became the minister at Needham, Suffolk, where he died in Feb 1682/1683.
