Francisco de Ribera, an Alférez in Santa Fé in 1636, and most likely born outside of New Mexico. He was the son of Juan de Ribera and María Pérez. His wife, Melchora de Escarramán died and he asked to marry a widow by the name of María de los Ángeles. María was 27 years old and her husband had been Gaspar de Arratia.
In 1636, Captain Pedro Lucero de Godoy testified that he had know Ribera for twenty-one years, suggesting the possibility of the two coming to New Mexico together.

Francisco married María de los Angeles Martín, daughter of Alonso Martín Barba and María Martín, in 1636. (María de los Angeles Martín was born in 1609 in Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España 252.)
