As a way to have peace between the Comanches and the people of Tomé, he promised his daughter to the chief of the Comanches. He later showed the chief her grave stone, and told the chief about the sad death of his daughter. Of course he lied in order to save her from what he thought would be a terrible life. When the chief found out that his bride-to-be was indeed alive, his Comanche group attacked the people of Tomé at Church on Sunday. The Comanches killed many of the men, and took the women as captives. It is said that Ygnacio's daughter married the chief and became the mother of a future Comanche great chief.
