Randle Mainwaring

  General Notes:

Ormerod's entries on Randle/Randulphe of Karyncham, have his two wives as Margaret, daughter of Ralph Pole of Radborn, and Anne Calveley. Boyer's Medeival Ancestors of Robert Abell calls him Randle, and says he married Margaret Davenport, daughter of Hugh Davenport, of Henbury. The Family of Davenport, names the husband of Margaret, daughter of Hugh as Randle Mainwaring of Carincham.

To Confuse matters even more, no one clearly says which Randle or Ralph was the father of Margaret Mainwaring who married Randle Grosvener.

Donald Jacobus, in his BukeleyGenealogy also gives Randle/Ralph's wife as Margaret Davenport, daughter of Hugh Davenport of Henbury. Jacobus says that Margaret who marries Randall Grosvernor of Bellaport, was possibly the daughter of Ralph/Randall and Margret Savage, but also notes that this Margaret Mainwaring may have been the daughter of the younger Ralph/Randall and Margaret Davenport.

Considering just how confusing I found Ormerod's information on the Mainwarings of Carincham, it is no wondering that there is so much confusion and contradiction in the other sources that relied on Ormerod's generally straight forward direction. Ormerod changes names back and forth between Randle and Ralph as names as well as changing the spellings of everyone's name. I suspect he was dealing with equally confusing records which did the same. ^525,713,721

Randle married Margaret Davenport, daughter of Hugh Davenport Esquire Henbury and Joan Wooton. (Margaret Davenport was born about 1440 in Henbury, Cheshire, England.)
