Thoroton's History of Nottinghamshire includes the entire poem titled The Staunton's Petygrewe written by a man named Robert Cade on pp. 310-317. For Robert de Staunton:
Sir Geffrey tooke Dame Alce to wife,
Four Sons he did beget,
Willyam, Ritcharde, Robert, and John,
And also Margaret.
Robert and John were Persones both
Of Staunton aforesaide,
Margaret was married to Trickingham,
Which cannot be denaide.
This Robert in the Chauncell li'the
Of Staunton to be scene,
The superscription Extant there
In theis wordes as I weene.
Hic jacet Robertus quondam rector ecclefiæ de Stanto et frater Wilelmi Staunton de eadem, militis, qui obiit nonis Kalend. Maii, Anno domini 1329. Cujus animæ propitietur Deus.
