Alonso Soltero came to the Americas in the company of Pánfilo de Narváez in April 1520. Luckily he avoided the disasterous Narvárez Florida expedition that Cabeza de Baca had survived by joining, along with others from the Narváez company, Cortés on his second journey to Tenochtitlán in June of 1520. He was part of Pedro de Alvarado's company during the conquest and destruction of the Aztec Empire. He took part in other Méxican campaigns between 1520-1522. He traveled with Alvarado on the Guatemala campaign in 1524.

Alonso married Señorita de Castilla. ⁴⁵¹ (Señorita de Castilla was born in Castilla, España, Iberia.)
