Roger de Malpas

  General Notes:

~The Visitation of Cheshire in the Year 1580, pp. 160-163, shows David de Mallpas, son of David, son of William de Malpus, son of Rogerus Malpas, son of William de Malpas and Margeria daughter of Cadogan de Linton, son of Dan David, and lastly, son 0f Willielmus Belward & Margreta de Keveliock. Everything on this pedigree agrees with Ormerod, with the exception of who is Roger's mother. ⁵²⁷

~George Ormerod's The History of County Palatine and City of Chester, Vol II, p. 598, shows Roger as the son of William and Beatrix de Montalt. He also states that his father William, did not have male issue with his legal wife, so Beatrix must be Roger's mother. ⁷¹³
