• Dates & Events.
Benjamin Cooley was in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1644, his name appearing in the records of that year. Two years after his arrival he was chosen a Selectman and served in that office 18 years, the longest period of service given by any one person. He was much employed in town affairs and was on all important committees during his active life. Samuel Terry was bound to service by William Pynchon to Benjamin Cooley, "weaver," for three years and six months, and it would appear that Cooley must have been engaged in weaving in England before coming to this country. His marriage is not on record here. He died August 17, 1684, and his wife, Sarah, died August 23, 1684.

Their children born in Springfield were:
Bethia, born 16 Sep 1644, married Henry Chapin
