Pedro Sánchez de Monroy was described as having a good stature and a gray beard when he came into New Mexico with Oñate in 1598. He brought his wife and children along with him. He was 50 year old and the son of Hernán Martín de Monroy of good stature and a gray beard. It is not certain if Pedro stayed in New Mexico, but it seems that his daugther, Juana Sánchez stayed with her husband, Juan de Mondragón.
