Sir Gilbert Southworth's son, Richard succeeded it in abtout 1352, and likely died without children since Sir John Sourthworth is given as the susccessor of Sir Gilbert. Sir John is said have been at the battle of Agincourt, and also to have died 5 Oct 1415. His death is recorded in a post-mortem inquisition that says he died next Sabbath after the feast of St. Michael the Archangel, third year of Henry V, i. e., 5 Oct 1415.

Sir John de Southworth married Margaret de Hoghton, daughter of Sir Richard de Houghton, a descended of William de Warren. Sir John's son, Sir Thomas de Southworth, was a member of Parliament for Lancaster County.
