• He signed a will. 252 He made his last will on May 19, 1768, in which he gave the names of his parents and of his wife, followed by his eight sons and five daughters: Jose, Gertrudis, Bernardo, Luis, Fernando, Isabel, Ant onio, Maria Francisca, Maria Antonia, Juan, Vicente, Maria and Francisco. Of the girls, Gertrudis married Francisco Silva and Maria Antonia married Tadeo Romero and later a Domingo Baca.
• Death : 1751. Luis died from a wound suffered after he'd been shot by an arrow during a Spanish campaign against raiding Indians.

• Marriage: 34, 312 Luis Chaves married a Bárbara Yturrieta on April 20, 1747. We know that he was a son of Nicolás from a 1838 pre-nuptial investigation in which he was designated as a brother of Vicente Chaves (son of Nicolás), and the father of an Isabel Chaves who was a first cousin of Vicente's son Francisco Chaves.
